| This image is of one of several posters that I took a photo of at Teddy Trust, a multi- faceted non- governmental organization (NGO, for those in the know- that rhymed) just outside of Madurai. I visited Teddy Trust with UW College Year in India group. It was a really powerful experience to see Teddy Trust in action. (Me and my selfish self probably never would have gone it if it weren't for Rachel and Sekar organizing the trip.) There's a school there for children whom wouldn't normally wouldn't be able to afford an education, a factory where folks can make a living wage in relatively safe environment, and a series of AIDS education centers targeted towards truck drivers, one of the highest risk groups in South India. This and the other posters from this week are from the center we visited. |
