This is Raja, my painting teacher and friend. I spent Deepavali day with him and his family. Deepavali is an Indian holiday that, from my outsider point of view is something like Christmas and the Fourth of July put together. Strings of multi-colored light bulbs hang from the buildings and incredibly powerful firecrackers explode at all hours of the day. He looks kinda stern holding that Hindu Goddess explosive, but Raja is a super duper nice guy (and I'm not one to go throwing around super duper). He's a very talented painter.
