So I was in CESCI for a week right? I took about 100,000 pictures in the period of like 6 days. One of my objectives in taking so many pictures was to get a good snapshot of a dragonfly. By my scientific calculations there are 486 dragonflies per cubic foot in the surrounding rural areas of Madurai and it just wouldn't be right if I went all this time not showing the viewing audience one of these little fellers. So try as I might, I was unable to get a satisfactory picture of any of the various insects in the order of Odonata, having a long slender body and two pairs of transparent wings usually spread while resting. (Told you I was scientific.) This and the next page document two of my more dramatic failures attempting to complete this goal. | ||
The first here is in a small village outside of the CESCI area. I approached this young boy whom amazingly had a live pet dragonfly tied to a string! I thought that was really cool, not to mention the perfect chance to get my photo. Unfortunately, the young boy did not think it was very cool and cried hysterically as soon as he saw me and my camera. Needless to say, but I'm gonna say it, it was an awkward situation. I took the pictures and I suppose that makes me a bad person. In the end I still wasn't contented and knew I could get a better picture of a dragonfly... |
