This is a portrait of 81-year-old Mohammed Bilal. We meet him in his village Malikar through a professor at American College. Mohammed Bilal was born a low caste Hindu, and all his life struggled against the oppression of the caste system. Mr. Bilal was a friend of Dr. Ambedkar, the Indian freedom fighter, humanitarian, and co-author of the Indian constitution. At age 72 Mr. Bilal became a Muslim to "kiss Islam and kick Hinduism." He's a fiery old chap and often referred to himself in third person during his lecture and our discussion about his life. I enjoyed listening to him very much.
